I’m gravely disappointed at the lack of nominations for vampires at this year’s Academy Awards.
Take Argo, for example. The movie was suspenseful, gripping and hugely entertaining. Ben Affleck did a masterful job directing, and the writing and acting were top-notch. But now imagine if one of the Americans trapped inside the Canadian Ambassador’s residence was a vampire. Or if the ambassador or even Tony Mendez himself was a vampire. It could’ve been that much more exciting! Or, take Silver Linings Playbook by David O. Russell, another worthy Oscar contender. Imagine the damage Bradley Cooper’s character could’ve inflicted on the guy who was with his wife, if he was a vampire! (Yes, Lincoln was nominated, but not the one who was the vampire hunter.)
The time is ripe for an Oscar-caliber vampire flick.
