Shark Bites – news & sightings

Yesterday morning, Feb. 14, surfers spotted a great white shark in the Monterey Bay. But this shark wasn’t looking for a valentine; it was looking for breakfast.

The Monterey County Herald reported that veteran surfer Mark Hull watched the great white shark attack a sea lion about 150 yards from a dozen surfers at Moss Landing State Beach around 10 a.m.

Hull was checking the surf line a quarter mile north of the harbor entrance when he saw a splash offshore. Then he saw a shark lift a sea lion out of the water and shake it. The surfers made it safely to shore.
