Vampire Bites – musings

Another wintery, bone-chilling movie for a scorching summer night is Let the Right One In (Låt den Rätte Komma In).

In the 2008 Swedish film, 12-year-old Oskar is tormented by bullies. He dreams of getting revenge. Things change for Oskar when he meets a 12-year-old girl named Eli one snowy night at the jungle gym. Eli just moved in but she’s not exactly the girl-next-door type. Eli has a dark secret. She tells Oskar she can’t be his friend. But that soon changes…

Meanwhile, ghastly killings are occurring nearby. And that’s all I’ll give away.

The 2010 American version, Let Me In, is also violent, dark, suspenseful and scary. But if you don’t mind subtitles, give the Swedish movie a whirl. It’s a little colder and darker, which is welcome this time of year.
