Pulse – events & entertainment

October is perfect time for new horror series and witches seem to be claiming a prominent place on TV this week…

On Sunday, Lifetime aired the first episode of Witches of East End. Inspired by Melissa de la Cruz’s New York Times best-selling novel, the series focuses on the Beauchamps, a family of witches living in a secluded seaside town. Joanna, an artist, tries to protect her grown daughters, bartender Freya and librarian Ingrid, from an ancient curse by hiding from them that they’re actually witches. But after a couple killings, a visit from a mysterious aunt, an arrest, and a kidnapping into a magical painting, secrets begin to spill.

Super-creepy American Horror Story launches its third season tonight on FX with Coven. In this series, which tells the secret history of witches in America, those who escaped from Salem are now facing extinction. To protect their kind from mysterious attacks, girls are sent to a special school in New Orleans, Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies. Exceptional indeed.

Looks like 10 pm is the new witching hour on Sundays and Wednesdays…
