Six Rivers Brewery in McKinleyville, Calif. calls itself “The Brew with a View.” It offers binocular-equipped window tables for gazing over the landscape toward the Pacific Ocean. A member of Humboldt Made, Six Rivers Brewery prides itself on utilizing local and organic ingredients whenever possible.
My favorite beer was the Paradise Moon Porter (ABV 6%, 22 IBU), $4.50. This is a growler-worthy porter! The Paradise Moon Porter is the brewery’s Moonstone Porter infused with 100% Kona coffee. The Moonstone Porter is a smooth, creamy porter brewed with all imported malts, Northern Brewer and Willamette Hops. The infusion of Kona coffee gives it a nice, bitter coffee kick. Despite the dark color, the body is light so it’s a refreshing brew for a warm summer night.
The Paradise Moon Porter also pairs well with Chocolate Paradise Cheesecake, $6.00, a housemade chocolate cheesecake infused with the Paradise Moon Porter—thick, rich, chocolatey deliciousness.
