DARK SURF wins 2nd place in General Fiction in 2016 Northern California Book Festival; RISING wins honorable mention!
The 2016 Northern California Book Festival selected DARK SURF as the Runner-Up in General Fiction, and recognized RISING with an Honorable Mention in the same category. This is the DARK SURF novel’s 7th award and RISING’s first award.
The Northern California Book Festival “honors the best books of the fall.” It considers fiction, non-fiction, biography/autobiography, how-to, compilations/anthologies, photography/art, children’s, cookbooks, poetry, spiritual, young adult, business, technology, unpublished manuscripts, wild card, travel/wine/ food, and regional lit.
I’ve been invited to attend a private awards ceremony in Sonoma in November. Books & wine? A winning combination!

T.C. Zmak will read a passage from RISING at Central Coast Writers’ Booktoberfest
On Tuesday, Oct. 18th, I’ll be one of the featured readers at the Central Coast Writers’ annual Booktoberfest! During the meeting, I’ll read a passage from RISING, the second novel in the DARK SURF series. In addition, several CCW members (including me!) will be selling and autographing books before and after the readings. The event will be held at the Point Pinos Grill, located at 77 Asilomar Blvd. in Pacific Grove, Calif. (at the golf course). Book sales begin at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m.

I’m excited to announce that tonight, Sept. 14th, I’ll be a featured guest on KRML Pub Talk! Hosted by renowned beer travelers Merideth Canham-Nelson and Chris Nelson, the live radio program airs Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. on KRML 102.1FM/1410AM, and streams worldwide at krml.com.
Pub Talk is broadcast live from Peter B’s Brewpub in Monterey. Since RISING and DARK SURF are set along the coast in California and Hawaii, I can’t help but mention beer in the books (and some local wines are in RISING too)!
Peter B’s is located in Custom House Plaza at 2 Portola Plaza (behind the Portola Hotel and Spa) in downtown Monterey, Calif. Stop by & enjoy a pint during the show!
